Harnessing data for targeted GBV prevention & response — Project Alert on VAWG

Mrs. Nsini Udinta, Program Manager/Shelter Administrator narrates her experience with using the National GBV dashboard.

Before the launch of the National situation room and the dashboard, an excel sheet we created internally was used to collect data on GBV incidents reported. The capacity building workshop organised the Population Council better equipped us with more knowledge on GBV data collection and reporting.

“Now we make entries from our paper source documents into the National GBV dashboard and there has also been knowledge transfer on data reporting within the organisation.”

Currently, we have not used the analytics on the dashboard for programming, but we hope to do that in the future to help us understand the prevalence of GBV among younger persons below 18, so that we can focus on sensitization programs in schools. If they are above 18, we want to identify the location of prevalent GBV cases to enable us to better channel our sensitization programs to these communities.
